Hi,
This one is for the Coder of the module raid1 (and I guess the others 2)
Why in the world did you chose 0x32 as number in the ioctl _IOW call??
The number is '2' in ascii, and with the Documentation/ioctl-number.txt in the
back.. it really doesn't figure...
But anyway, besides that... 8-)

Hi,
I have just installed RedHat 6.0 on a PC and want to run RAID 1 to mirror my 2 hard
disks. Could you please tell me where I can get a step by step instruction guide.

Should be a FAQ by now :)...
You either need to compile the Raid modules into the kernel (not as modules)
or set up an initrd.

I am planning on building a small SCSI RAID array (using software RAID)
for my home Linux server. Suppose I have 4 of the same drive (perhaps
4GB drives). What happens in a year or two when one of the drives fails

Hi all
I'm running raidtools-19990421-0.90 on my Redhat6 (glibc2.1) box, with

I've edited the raidtab-file properly for linear (also tried raid0)

harddisk-dev's)

Hey folks,
I've got some pretty big problems with my Linux software RAID(-5) array.
This is what I think happened: Two days ago, the power went out on my file
server. When the power came back up, the RAID driver automatically
started re-synchronizing the array. During the re-sync, the power went

No, but it seems to be saying to me that modprobe can't find raid1.
Try adding the line
alias md-personality-3 raid1
to /etc/conf.modules (or whatever you have) and see if i
Does anyone know if these drivers are being worked on?

3970, huh? Unless you got the part number wrong, I would be skeptical.
The closest part number I can find in adaptec's product listing is the
AHA-3950U2, which is 2x u2w, but is not a RAID controller. The only
Adaptec u2w RAID controllers they list are the AAA-131U2
(single-channel), AAA-133U2 (

I am trying to get raid1 working on a RH6.0 Linux

this.

There's a script on the web that will do this for you. The URL is

Hi!
I would like to configure my system to send me a notification when the raid
device goes into degraded mode (or when any other error occurs).
Is there a program to do this, or should I hack it using syslog?
The preferred way is to send e-mail notification or to run a script.
Thanks,
