Keith (or anyone else who's played with video-capture stuff under Linux),

says Invalid option and nothing more.
My goal right now is to find an app that
This showed up today on apps.kde.com (I know),
http://apps.kde.com/nf/2/info/vid/5779
It's qt3-based, not really KDE-based.
It's gotten good reviews. I have no experience with it, web cams, or USB. I'm

Thanks Keith. Actually, i've made some progress. I'm now able to create
AVI movies from the live camera stream, however they don't seem to have
any sound (just a lot of white noise). I'm actually using 'streamer'
which comes with xawtv (surprisingly, since xawtv seems to refuse to
record AVI
I have no idea how many of my comments are relevant to your webcam problem
but you did say anybody.
I have a video capture card.
I have the same /dev/video0 device and a videodev module loaded. I am using kwintv,
not xawtv, but xawtv seems to need the bttv driver, which you don't list

Actually, Joel, i finally got the camera working last night at 1AM. For
anyone else's benefit (i'll writeup a SxS eventually with alot more

Hi,
Just did some test with my notebook. My cam is a Vesta Pro (PCVC680K).
For a fresh COL 3.1.1 install you have to:
Get the pwcx-i386 module
(http://www.smcc.demon.nl/webcam/release.html#pwcx)
and put it in /lib/modules/2.4.13/kernel/drivers/usb

This isn't a fresh COL-anything install.

Hi,
Stupid question: have you installed the PWCX module??
Without it you won't be able to use the bigger video sizes at faster
fps and it (pwc module) will switch down silently to lower resolutions.
