Ok, thanks a lot. I will give that a try.

No, LOCAL_APPS = N in lts.conf
I turned off XFS in lts.conf, and X started up OK. I don't nescessarily need
XFS to work, so I'll leave it at that.
I would still like to know why I can't get a console-only session though,
as I might need that in the near future.
And know for something completely
I'm using the latest version that comes with the K-12 Linux Terminal
Server Project. http://www.k12ltsp.org/.
I believe it is 2.08. (lts-core-2.08-1) on Red Hat 7.1.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Erik,
Do you, by chance, have LOCAL_APPS turned on ?
Jim.

Yes, that was just a typo - long day ;-)
Looks like it might be a permissions problem. I change the lts.conf file to
RUNLEVEL=3
Erik,
The error about the font path specifies the wrong port. you showed
'7001', but it should
be '7100'. Maybe that was a typing error when you typed it into your
email. Worth double
checking.
Also, if the client is looking for a font server, then you have selected
USE_XFS = Y in
the lts.
what version?

Does anyone know of a writeup on how to get sound working on the
terminals? I know you have to somehow load the sound card module in the
terminal's kernels..

Is it possible to get USB 802.11 support running on LTSP with the IOPener?
Theoretically, it'd just be a matter of compiling the proper drivers into
the kernel that sits on the IO's flash, ya?
Has anyone tried? From what I gather, there are USB 802.11 drivers out
there, but they're not yet stable
I've installed LTSP 2.08 on Red Hat 7.1 server running on a 400MHz PC
with the Intel i810 m/b.
I noticing that whenever I attempt to login (GUI) from a client PC the
server will immediately reboot itself.
I don't experience this problem when using an older Gateway PC as the
LTSP server. Any i
