No, LOCAL_APPS = N in lts.conf I turned off XFS in lts.conf, and X started up OK. I don't nescessarily need XFS to work, so I'll leave it at that. I would still like to know why I can't get a console-only session though, as I might need that in the near future. And know for something completely

Erik, The error about the font path specifies the wrong port. you showed '7001', but it should be '7100'. Maybe that was a typing error when you typed it into your email. Worth double checking. Also, if the client is looking for a font server, then you have selected USE_XFS = Y in the lts.
