I use ltsp3.0. I've set up all the necessasy configuration files needed based on the documentation provided.
I used a floppy disk to try it out. I loaded the file eb-5.0.5-3c509.lzdsk to the disk. On my 486 box. There's only a floppy drive connected. (I disconnected the cables fr

How did you copy the eb-5.0.5-3c509.lzdsk file to the
floppy ?
You need to dd it. There are instructions on the rom-o-matic
site.

I have lots of 3c509's that don't have bootproms that work with the boot
floppies.
What floppy image are you getting from rom-o-matic.com?
What does the screen tell you when you boot from the floppy you got for the
3c509?

i am running ltsp on rh7.2, using a dual celeron 366 with 198mb ram,
this will soon be upgraded to a dual 466 with 512mb ram
i have three workstations, all with the same nic, video and sound,

You might be right. Maybe that fact this network adapter does not have a
boot ROM socket is affecting the Etherboot floppy.

disk? If you just copied the file to the floppy, that will not work.

I reported a problem a while back with the 3c509. Version 4 of eb worked
but 5 did not. My problem was related to the timer in 3c509.c. Here is the
5.05 diff for 3c509.c that I used. Because of the nature of the change, Ken
did not want to include it in the base.

If the Etherboot floopy doesn't find your card it because the work
station don't show it.

I am using KDE 2.2.1 and I am having a problem associating .doc files
with StarOffice 5.2. Where is this information stored? I think that I
am missing a piece of the puzzle since the Mimelink stuff doesn't
mention an application to execute in order to open the file. I guess

BUT, the kernel prepared with it reboots one of my Pentia every time I try to
boot it. That is not a big problem, one can use one kernel for the i486 and
other for the Pentia, but I though I should inform you.
