Tom,
Hi,
I set up remote access to our terminal server using an SSHVNC applet. This
allows any of our users to access their normal LTSP session from anywhere
without installing any software or doing any configuration. All they need is
the url, and their normal username and password. I wrote up some

When you say install a small boot server at each remote site, what is this
boot server's purpose, to be the DHCP server for the thin clients to allow
it to talk to a host site (or another site)? What if the router has a
built-in DHCP server?
In regards to setting the proper default router (gat

Hi,
I've been toying with a LTSP 3.0 setup and have got to grips with most things but
because my test terminals all boot via PXE I've never realy bothered about the boot
process.
Anyhoo I've upgraded to LTSP 4.0 and have added an extra NIC into the mix and have run
into a problem :
The server

Jim, by default dhcp/bootp broadcasts are silenetly dropped at the router. \
Enabling (and configuring) bootp forwarding on the router will get the remote
dhcp broadcasts to the dhcp server at the primary site. As long as the dhcp
server knows that
Hi,
1) how do I mount and use local(terminal) cdrom and floppy drives
instead of ejecting server cdrom drives?
same procedure as with local apps?
2) how to setup more complex devices (like usb tablets) on terminal? I
suppose you need xfree 4.x compatible graph. card + XF86Config-4 already

Andre,
The only way I recommend setting up a remote office is to include a
small boot server at the remote end. It just needs to have the basics
on it. All apps can still run at the main office.
You are probably having trouble with dhcp, because it works by sending a
broadcast, which won't g
XSERVER=i810
Should do the trick. The setting for XSERVER in the lts.conf file is the
same as it would be in the XF86Config file if the machine were running X
locally. See:
http://www.xfree86.org/4.3.0/RELNOTES3.html
for a list.

You should be able to set:
XSERVER = i810
There isn't a list, but if you look in the
/opt/ltsp/i386/usr/X11R6
I have a question similar to Andre's, however somewhat differnt.
Andre is trying to set up two sites connected by a VPN which uses the
Internet to connect the two sites.
I am looking into the possibility of connecting 24 sites to one host site
using a Private WAN. The private WAN will be using
thanks!
I though there is something wrong with my hardware, now everything works
BTW is sound installation on 4.0 the same as in ltsp 3.0?

This may not be a question for this forum but anyway.
I would like to know if anyone has ever gotten a thin client (jammin

a second site and connect them through a vpn and run all the thin
clients through the vpn tunnel. This
Hi,
I've got LTSP up and running, thanks to your great documentation. But now I have
a problem with a Compaq Deskpro 5100. We have a few of them and would like to
use them as clients.
I got it to boot up and download the kernel, but it just hangs after

Thanks.
Terminal 2 started successfully.
What must I do for terminal 1(i810).
Is there any list for vga card to configure XSERVER?

Hi There
I wanted to setup sshd on my workstation so that I could log into it.
When I ran sshd it gave me: no keys, blah blah blah. I had the keys.
I then did a
cd /etc/ssh
more ssh_host_key
and got a permission denied!
ls -al ssh_host_key gives
-rw---1 root root 887 2004
