Dunc,
PXE and Etherboot are both methods of loading a kernel into memory.
once you've done that, they both get out of the way.
There's absolutely no reason that a PXE machine would need to be more
powerful than an Etherboot machine.
As for which is better, PXE or Etherboot, the answer is: BOTH
I was wondering what the merits / advantages of PXE over Etherboot (or
vise versa) are. All of my terminals were, previously, etherboot. But,
I bought a PXE unit by mistake the other day and I'm amazed at how much
more cpu it needs to run. Is this normal?

It depends. If you are making a floppy any of the eepro100 you choose
will work. If you want to program a rom boot from the floppy and n

Everything works fine But my concern is about having the kernel the
xserver and mozilla to be on the bootable cd which i will be using to
connect to the server .
I dont want that the linux kernel will get loaded from the network

Pratham,
Take a look at a live distro, like Knoppix or the Live Ubuntu cd.
While they might not be exactly what you want, you may be able to create
your own live cd, based on one of those.

Erick,
If you take a look at the LTSP Wiki, there's an article called
'LBE' that gives info for building the LBE.
Full url is: http://wiki.ltsp.org/twiki/bin/view/Ltsp/LBE

Apologize if it has been discussed before...
I am wondering if there is a link on how to setup FreeNX with LTSP or not?
I'm exploring LTSP to solve a load issue when using FreeNX and having it
startkde from ground up instead of halfway if we use LTSP.

Hello,
I am attempting to build the LBE and it is failing while building glibc
for ltsp-src. The following is the last few lines of output from the
build process.

gcc /ltsp-src/glibc/glibc-build/sunrpc/xbootparam_prot.c -c -std=gnu99
-Wall -Winline -Wstrict-prototypes -Wwrite-strings -mar
GDM already handles this on my Fedora Core 3 implementation. If I'm
logged in and try to log in from another workstation it tells me I'm
logged in and puts up a confirmation dialog box. You might want to look
and see how GDM provides this service.

I recently inherited a bunch of Athalon K7 diskless boxes that I want to add
to my LTSP cluster. They etherboot without problem but hang after the
following output on the client:
Loading /lts/vmlinuz.ltsp (NBI) ... Done
Nothing on the server messages to indicate a problem. I'm not trying to

Hi Sudev,
Thank you for the suggestion..
I will try this out and see if this works!!

Hi,
is it possible to use the IBM NetVista 2800 8364-EXX with LTSP 4.1 ?
I had successfully connected NetVista 2200 with LTSP 4.1.
