Doable indeed. I would say NFS for home and shared directories
and the rest via "cloned" LTSP servers at each location.
Your biggest problem is bandwidth, so the feasibility depends on
document/file size versus available bandwidth.

We have such a setup. Like you say, I put an applications server at
each location. Each user has a preconfigured 'default' location, and
their /home/$USER is stored on the local applications server. Then, at
each remote location, they have their home directory set to
/remote/$USER, which is an aut
I would think that if you have an LTSP server at each site, syncing them
probably wouldn't be TOO difficult a task (though I've never attempted
this). My first thought would be to hack together some rsync scripts to
sync up the server filesystems, but maybe ltsp-cluster has some features
that d

Hi
Has anyone here managed to get an LTSP installation to work over
geographically seperated sites so that a user who is registered can log on
at any of the remote sites and still get access to their documents and have
the graphical interface launch with their own preferences? My knee jerk

On Ubuntu: you should run: update-initramfs -u (instead of
mkinitramfs in the chroot). Then, (also in the chroot)
run /usr/lib/ltsp/update_kernels (to make the nbi image for etherboot
clients). Then, exit the chroot and run: sudo ltsp-update-kernels (to
get the new initrd copied to
Never mind. As it happens often enough I realized that I can just
chroot /opt/ltsp/i386/
and run mkinitramfs
For an unknown reason I don't seem to be executing scripts/nfs
but that's something else.

I need to change the scripts/nfs within the initrd image (I never got
LTSP to work with the DHCP server different than the NFS server
without modifying this file).
However on the newer systems (Ubuntu lenny) I can't seem to be able
to create a working initrd.
To extract the contents I am using:
Dear readers
I wonder if I can change my login screen with "LDM_THEME=".
What I want is a login screen with a user browser like HappyGnome (and, if
possible a language browser)
What are the values for LDM_THEME= ...?
Thank you very much

ubuntu LTS (8.04) gets support for 3 years for LTSP and
Are any distributions supporting LTSP 5 in their enterprise level
offerings? Biggest thing that we're curious about would be security
updates for more than 3 years.
