I just had a quick question about M$ Office licensing and was hoping
someone on the list had already gone down this path.
We're going to have a Windows 2008 R2 server in the office with 5 CAL.

I was thinking about trying out Chrome instead of FireFox for my LTSP setup.
Is there any documentation out there to on how to lock down and optimize
chrome for an LTSP installation like there is for FireFox?

Just thought I'd poll the group on the topic of Web Browsers.
Currently we're running with 64bit Ubuntu 9.10, 6x 32bit clients, with
everything running on the server (no local apps). For a browser we're
using stock 64bit firefox with the 32bit flash plugin (I found

realized after I posted that the LDM K script would execute on the

We are getting ready to roll out an LTSP installation for use as
internet/openoffice workstations at a local non-profit. It will have
both regular users and guest accounts.
We're just using Fluxbox (not Gnome) in case that matters.
The only thing I've got left to address is the cleanup of gues
Is there an easy way to disable the Select Session menu in LDM, or an
easy way to override what it populated in it?
We're getting ready to roll out an LTSP based computer lab and want to

Fulcrum Enterprises,
We're getting ready to implement a virtual windows setup and I just
thought I'd query the group to make sure I haven't missed anything.
We've got a working LTSP5 installation with only 4 workstations.
I was thinking of getting Windows Terminal Server 2003 (32bit) with 5

I was curious if anyone has tried the Shuttle X50 Barebone as a
workstation. I didn't see any specs that stated whether or not it has
PXE booting available.
They're selling at Frys Electronics for $399. Add some ram and it looks
like a nice little all in one unit.

That's what I was figuring.
If you don't mind - the one on Local Media, and I was also looking for
info on CD Burning on the workstations if that is in there somewhere.
Thanks for the help.

Just curious - did we lose some pages in the Wiki recently?
For example, on the main wiki page:

I just got done setting up a couple of homebrew workstations based on
the Intel D945GCLF2 Desktop Board With Integrated Atom Processor.
Everything works fine except that when 'Shutdown' is chosen from LDM
menu the workstation does not power off.
I've tried adding the 'acpi=off apm=power_off' ke
I'm just wondering if anyone has any feedback on the LTSP Term 1220
(good or bad). We're getting ready to pick one up for evaluation and demos.
Even better - does anyone have the necessary lts.conf X related settings
to get a 1440x900 widescreen working on it?

I came across this researching a different project.

I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction.
I've got a fresh LTSP5 install that's working fine, except that when a
user logs out (or even shuts down the workstation) the ssh session and
the X11 tunnel associated with it doesn't get released.

Bill,
Just wanted to toss in my $.02 worth.
I've just worked on getting a fresh LTSP5 installation from scratch
working this week (Debian Etch with the backported packages). I think
this might be helpful info.
The main issue I've found is that (at least in my case) I can log in
