Hi.
Just got my hands on a Netvista 2200, model 8363 and decided to try it in
an LTSP 4.2 setup. I already have that up and running and figured it
would be
worth at least a try. There were link on the list and I google'd for a
while, to
make it short, i got the informatios and kernels to boot. U
Good day
I have LTSP4.1 installed on Mandriva 2005. The thin
client I amusing is an IBM Netvista 2200 (bios patched to the latest). I am also
using the kernel compiled by Karl Kappel http://wiki.ltsp.org/twiki/bin/view/Ltsp/Clients#IBM_N2800.My
problem is that the workstation boots and

Dave,
Rather than tell us 'using 4.1 defaults', it would be much more useful
if you show us your /etc/exports file and your /etc/dhcpd.conf file.

I had this client working under RH9 but I changed to Centos 3.3 and now
I can't seem to get it to work. I am using Karl's Netvista kernel.
I get a kernel panic- no init found.
I have spent hours on this and the only thing that I can see is that it
is not seeing the proper export for root.

Patrick,
If the monitor is going blank, then you are probably over-driving it.
Take a look at: http://www.ltsp.org/contrib/modelines.html
Keep in mind that because you are using a custom XF86Config file, any
modeline changes will have to go in that file, instead of the lts.conf
file.

Ok , just to ensure that things are not wacked on the server i did a
fresh install of the k12ltsp distro v4.1
I am able to connect to the server from a windows client over the
XDMCP session so this is working correctly
The client boots the linux kernel and connects to the server
successfully. I am
I am now using Karl's Netvista kernel and the thin client seems to be
booting properly to run level 3 , but when its switching to run level
5 it never initiates the X session on the screen
.. Here below are the /var/log/messages from the server

Hello,
here I tried to write down the steps to make NetVista 2200 boot LTSP:
1) You need at least a firmware level of 12/06/02.
I used the latest firmware 07/29/02
2) BIOS:
I set all from DHCP: "IP Address/Network Config from DHCP =
enabled
3) These are my DHCP-Options:
I have a couple of Netvista 2200's I'd like to use with LTSP (2.4.19 kernel)
What modifications do I need to make to the kernel, any tips or instructions
would be appreciated.
