I am a Lyx newbie and have a question about making special fonts appear in the Lyx window. If I enter the following into a Lyz file: \( a\preceq b \) and generate dvi output, I get output that looks great. So I guess that the necessary fonts are installed on my system (Mandrake 8.0).

I have had that probelm before. What caused it for me was that my .bib file had been corrupted. Open it in a text editor and see if there are any brackets missing at the end of it. Or alternatively try and use one of the backed up .bib files. I seem to get a .bib.~n~ (where n is a number) backu
