Dear list members,
I have recently noticed a small annoyance (LyX 2.3.7, MacOS 14).
It’s about the folder where the various PDF previewers save their files by
default. They always revert to a /lyx_tmpbuf0 (e.g.) which is rather deeply
nested below the LyX temp directory, either the one chosen
ad no expectation there would be distro installed files that weren't
removed when I removed the TL packages. Removing those remnant files
eliminated the error I got when running a document through pdflatex.
All's well now.

Dear Pavel,
I did steps 1 - 4, but
e I have idea what could be the problem.
Could by chance try the following experiment:
1. find configure.py of your lyx installation
2. find string "LaTeX (plain)" there and replace it by "LaTeX .plain.", save
file
3. reconfigure lyx
4. try whether import starts showing .tex fi

Without looking at the code it seems we are passing control to
the ope
per icons show up on the desktop and in the filemanager, and
clicking them directly opens the appropriate application. For example,
in TeXstudio when I click "Open", only LaTeX-files are shown. I did
nothing special on any file related to mime-types that I can think of.
Is it possible t

So there is a difference in the routine calling a file type when using
File -> Import -> LaTeX (plain) and Insert -> File -> Subdocument ->
Search in Folder?
Thankful for any help

I also cannot reproduce this, on an Ubuntu machine. All the *.tex files
show up.

Dear readers of this list,
I am using LyX 2.3.4.2 on Ubuntu 18.04.4 and have the following issue:

Perhaps do one and export to LaTeX and compile.
If that works, find how and where this is inserted (in the .tex file) and add
another one manually.
If that compiles, run a tex2lyx on it. If that works, it should be a
triviality to generate this semiautomagically :-)-O

I’m attempting to compile conference proceedings using LyX 2.3.3.
I have successfully inserted one PDF-file into LyX (Insert/File/External
Material). Some questions:
1. Do I have to insert the files one by one (some 40 files), or can I
insert all at the same time? [I guess I can
