yes .hex is the wrong format. you have to turn them back into raw binaries with
a hex2bin. also http://bitchin100.com/wiki/images/6/63/M100_OPTION_ROMS.zip has
most of the roms all ready to for REX. (about the only useful rom not there is
crdfil.rom) hoot, guardian etch, and logit are weird,
Hey guys, I got myself a REX. I had no real trouble installing rex, and
after a bit of head scratching I think I've got LaddieAlpha more or less
figured out. I'm trying to load some option roms though and I'm running
into some trouble.
When I try to load an option rom in REX it looks like LA is
I tried doing this with my T102 a few years back and couldn't get the baud
rate anywhere close to 31250.

Serial to MIDI adapters are around - although you'd probably have better
luck finding a design and building one yourself than finding a pre-made
one. (The serial port being the wrong gender doesn't help things.)
The protocol itself is largely the same, but you need level conversion, and
the baud
I vaguely recall a few months back someone talking about some kind of
MIDI with their M100.
I've got a Roland MT-32 and a couple PMA-5s, and I got to wondering how
I could interface them to my M100, then maybe write some MIDI
player/editor software.
Just saw a video tutorial on YouTube
I remember a discussion a year or 2 back about 3D printing them.
Someone posted files on ThingiVerse here ->

I scored a load of about 100

I scored a load of about 100 of them on ebay a couple years ago. I
interesting, well, I'm not in urgent need because some of my laptops
naturally die.
But I had to replace the one on my heavily used "test jig" for REX, REXCPM
etc.
BTW, which version of Molex is it?
M100 style or (older)
T102/T200 style (newer)

No, it's not on my PC. I was able to load the files out of the 24K RAM
image onto the T102, and then make a new 32K RAM image on the REX
containing the files I care about.
I was going to re-load .CO programs like HTERM from my PC, since those
didn't copy out of the RAM image successfully.
On
Does it? I guess I must have done that then ;)

I bought a few from someone in the list a few years ago. IIRC he had to buy
them in qty 100 to get the few that he needed. If that person is on the
list still, I could use a few more, in fact.

now that a 24k ram image is out of REX and onto your pc, what are you going
to do now?
REX can't read a 24K ram image into a 32k Machine. Unless I am losing my
memory, which could be true.

True. The way to get a 100 online is with a RS-232 terminal adapter, also
called a network modem or WiFi modem.
I have a WiModem, Which is basically just an ESP8266 with some level
shifters and a power supply. The ESP8266 and ESP32 make great low cost
terminal adapters, since they have WiFi and
So all I cared about really is the .DO and .BA files, which REXMGR copied
out of the backup just fine. Thanks Josh! Not sure why I didn't think to
try that...
I tried to copy a .CO file out and it didn't work, but that's not really a
surprise. I can reload that one from my PC.

usb requires a usb interface, pretty sure nobody has made a usb interface
for the 100

I could use a few new ones.

Ha, found an NOS/unopened Linksys USB Network Adapter at GoodWill for
$3.49 and thought maybe there could be a way to configure this thing to
work with the M100. Anyone have any experience with this thing or is
there a thread already? Just thought it be worth asking before I list on
I actually don't think there is a way for REX to figure that out.
I would save off the files you want while the computer has its original
memory config.
Then upgrade the ram, and reload in it.

You can copy individual files out of a RAM image using REXMGR. I think it's
the "file" function. They get copied into working RAM.

It was passing those tests right after the new battery was installed, but
that's a good idea, I should re-run those!
Good suggestion, thanks!
