I think that perhaps those who are unhappy about this should discuss calmly and
patiently with the developer of the app? Demanding something like this usually
doesn't work. My understanding is that this is not directly an Apple
application. It's just a fact that some applications work better
that the price is so high. Guess I will wait and watch

Square (and never use it) ZoomReader, Digitize barcode scanning etc. In the UK
the app is about £10, and I think it is a small price to pay if it is going to
make your life a bit easier. The developers have made
