When you start the installation, VO will already be running, or at least it should be. You only have to enable it when you re-start. As to when to invoke VO, I waited about a minute or so, and tried it. If it doesn't work, just keep trying with Command F5 and it will give the familiar

If I understand correctly, IMessage replaced IChat. It's identically the same exact interface, except that now IMessage is included as one of the protocols in addition to AIM, Jabber, etc. that you can use. So, my guess it you set it up within the app, which should be in the dock. If not,
