I believe thats done in the info pane for the particular file. In the info pane, you can set a particular file type, .xls in your case, to open with a particular app, again, in this case, Tables. Not sure on exactly how its done, but fiddle around with it and you'll probably find easily enough.

any A/V program set to scan on open will slow a machine down. you can set it up to scan on a schedule or only look at specific filetypes. I use clamsav on a once per week schedule here. most default settings are good enough for the casual user and shouldn't present too many problems. -eric On
