You might go in to keyboard under system preferences, and disable some of the keyboard shortcuts in there. There was one that was driving me nuts, I don't know if I had accidentally set it or if it was a default setting, the dash key was set to show and hide the doc. Got rid of that as well as

If I'm not mistaken, control-left_arrow brings up Dashboard. I also sometimes have a hard time getting out of it. The 2 finger scrub gesture will sometimes work. F12 seems to bring up Dashboard as well, and hitting that again will close it. None of it seems consistent though. :) Once you
