Hello Tim
I has some discussions with Dimitri from Manifold (Check
comp.infosystems.gis at www.deja.com) about one-two month ago about whether
or not Manifold 4.5 (current version) could work with big datasets. His
definition of a big dataset is something which doesn't fit into memory. Be

Dear List:

A quick solution could be to run the Table Manager mbx. It allows you to tag a table

Just got MapInfo version 6.
I have an Access 2000 database on one of our remote drives.
I set up a ODBC connection to this database on this drive. No problems.
I create a MapInfo MapCatalog table in the database.
I then go into MapInfo and try to make one of the tables in this database

Mike,
MapMarker is probably doing fine. One of the anomalies of the postal system
is that there is no firm geographic reference to streets except a partial
file of zip+4's correlated to segments of the TIGER files. The zip codes
are constructed at the whim of the individual Postmaster. If thes

Hi,
I am trying to geocode a couple hundred addresses. I am able to get the
nine digit zip codes on my file. When I geocode the file, I have to relax
my standards and most of the records get a georesult of S1. Why can't I get
at the minimum a Z3-which is geocoded to the zip+4 level? Many

I currently use MapBasic version 4.1 We have just upgraded MI to 6.0 Are
there enough enhancements in MB 6 to make it worth it?
The other factor is that we will be keeping some users in the office on MI
4.12, so any network apps would still need to be written in MB 4.1

Dhyan,
We've got a copy of Manifold v4.5 in the office and have played around with
it a bit. It might take a bit of getting used to for MI or ArcView users
since the program seems to take a somewhat different approach to GIS. Not
necessarily better or worse, just different. The process of produci

Would that same message appear with a plain version 4.0, o

I need some input on a rather delicate problem. I am managing a large
database of Norway (4054 files) and want to check what kind of CoordSys each
of the tab files are saved as. The reason is that we need all the speed we
can get, and if we can minimize the number of transformations on the fly it
It's interesting how we all interpret things differently. My read was that
ArcView might be starting to catch up with MI: projection on the fly,
support for annotations, etc...

I think I'll have the solution to your problem.. I've have a MapBasic

I downloaded Mapbasic5.5beta and 6.0beta when they were on evaluation test.
We have to peruse the license agreement again.
The evaluation period is over and they are no longer on their web site.

David,
Here is a very baseline source for merging multiple tables.
It doesn't check much of a table structures access rights or anything, but will do the
thing if you are just careful.
If you don't have MapBasic let me know and I'll mail you a compiled version.

Hi Tony
This might depends on the kind of printer you are using ... Is it a Postscript printer
... then it just ran out of printer memory (??). Try i.e. to use the PCL-driver if
available (most printers have that option). The best you tell us what printer it is
and if you print directly or via
