The short answer is 'no' I'm afraid. You can test for whether or not a table
has unsaved edits using TableInfo, but MapInfo isn't a DBMS and you can get
information on which rows have changed or how.
I dimly recall someone posting something here about a custom MapBasic tool
that tracks edits -
Whoops
Should have read you CAN'T get information on which rows have changed or
how

Damn, I just for a second thought that you had found the solution of all ;-)
If you want to test whether a certain row has been changed, you'll need a
copy of the table with the original records, and then check each value in
this record for changes..but I guess this would be a killing
Hi there,
As far as I know you just have to live with those issues.
If you are lucky the data provider will have created a seperate *.PRJ file
that sits alongside the SHP and contains projection info. This is one that
MapInfo can work with and also the Universal Translator writes out when
I made a turn around of those limitation using the FME from SAFE software to compare
changes between two files.
All I had to do is to save the file I was working on on an other name (temporarly).
Run the FME script to compare file1 and file2.
At the time I did this, I was a very moderate user

With regards to the styling, yes thats a bummer too. There is a nifty
additional optional file in ArcView 3.x called a *.AVL - a legend file -
that defines a style setting or thematically driven setting that loads when
you open the SHP file. In the newfangled Arc8 there is something

I imagine that ArcGIS users must have the same problem. If there's no coordinate
system info associated with a SHP file, how do they get it georegistered
correctly when loaded into an ESRI
