You can try to bring a MapInfo object directly into PowerPoint by going to:
Insert menuObject;
in the pop up window (insert object) click on Create new radio button,
choose MapInfo map from the Object type list.
Click ok and you should be able to open MapInfo tab files from inside

MapInfo specific, but it should help you with SQL grammar a little bit. Hope
