'84 was the first year for the US market. That's the one with the itty-bitty
14 wheels and the non-extending wiper arm. Built through 1/85. So, there were

Well, the thunderstorm passed over so I went back out to try and get the
450sl going - I whacked a little more on the solenoid, checked some wires,
and she fired right up.Thanks to those who gave me advice.
Now I know I need to lube the throttle linkage as it sticks, and the idle
seems high
If it has K jet it has an idle control valve, I believe. Look for
loose hoses! It may have a warm-up regulator, I don't remember, will
have to find my book -- if so, it should close as it warms up, slowing
the idle.

tilt it up all the way, or if you find a way to put a microswitch
on the tilt mechanism to limit travel?

Yes, assuming that the laptop BIOS supports booting from USB devices.

The bios has option for external devices, I assume that will work. Hope
so, just bought an external drive and I am cheap, so I dont like to
spend money if I dont have to.
