A 190D is still faster. It's all about power to weight ratio. For example, I owned a couple of 1975 240D's & both had automatic transmissions. Then I bought a 1977 300D with an automatic transmission. Its performance was approximately equal to the two 240D's. The extra 25% horsepower just made up
