Check, you may not be able to change the oil filter without removing
the engine..
Also check for interferences around the filter housing. I believe
the intakes will interchange, so you can stay with the W123 filter
system (nicer than an oil bath, and there is an oil separator on there).
Use kerosene, they stink something horrible on diesel fuel. Smoke too.

Normally the car is a ever reliable starter. yesterday i shut it for a
minute and it refused to restart .
After a few minutes it restarted without a fuss,
i have driven it a lot since that episode and there has been no repeat
