I'm swapping out the rotating assembly from an SD into my NA block, and the
crank is sitting in it's bubble-wrap all happy and oily.
And before you ask, it's easier for me to swap the spare rotating assembly
than swap in a turbo engine.
I ended up doing quite a bit of custom machine work that only

Once it is set, it won't change other than chain stretch. If you
leave it alone and put in a new chain when the stretch is
insignificant, then the new chain pulls the timing back in to place.

I should add: its a cheap easy fix. Glow plugs and injectors are
expensive and a PITA on the 603. At 150k your injectors will need
servicing. If the GP light comes on then most likely all is well.
