On one of mine, I just took out the adjuster. the old Dissels didn't
have an adjuster anyhow. You just put a bar in to hold the belt
tight while you tighten up the bolt.
Hard to replace missing material with a die :-(.

Turn it down one size, then thread it - just needs to be strong enough to
hold the geared head in place. Of course, a good used one is the preferred
option, IMHO.

unless you change to DOT 5 with appropriate flushes.
I generally don't allow the DOT 3 junk on the premises.

Welding is messier and not as strong. Weld strength about 60K psi,
high-strength silver solder about 130K. Silver solder flows into tight
joint making more accurate joint.

As far as I know, DOT 3 and DOT 4 are compatible with the main
difference being that DOT 4 has a higher boiling point. So you should
be able to use DOT 4 in any vehicle that calls for DOT 3 (although the
cost is slightly higher). DOT 5 is NOT compatible and at minimum
requires a complete flush.

I haven't used DOT 3 for at least 30 years now.
Use DOT 4, and I suspect it's what you need anyway since you have disk
brakes.
