Buy a used mower, forget about impressing list members with a new one. I
haven't purchased a new mower since the late 70s. I currently have three B&S
mowers, two are close to 20 years old and still going strong and one is about
10 years old. So maybe the newer ones are bad, but
I've driven a 116 and enjoyed it immensely. Much better than a 123 though maybe
not as responsive as a 124/201.

my 123 240D rides much better after I put new Bilsteins on it, as
does any MB i've ever driven. they were critical on 110/111. I
could drive one of those and tell you if it had bilsteins or junk
shocks without looking at the shocks. Not sure I could do that any
more, but back in the day when
I learned to drive in a W116 450SEL. When I needed a car I'd borrow it from my
parents during high school. I then drove it on and off during college and
pretty much adopted it thereafter. I must have clocked 100,000 miles on that
car. Definitely a smooth riding car but not mushy like the America

flatheads used too much gas and even somewhat expensive modern engines have
unfriendly features like nylon cam lobes.
Something like a Cub Cadet 782 diesel, or any G Kubota.

Well, I put a 116 sideways on an interstate doing about 75, and it
stayed nice and stable until I got the skid under control... A lesser
car would have tumbled.

A zero turn is most useful when you need to mow around a lot of stuff, planters
and whatnot.
How much are you mowing on Okie acres? If its a lot and you don't have a lot of
obstacles I'd vote for a 3 point finish mower on your tractor. It'll be a big
mower and you'll be able to carry some ground
Straight 30wt? I run Mobil 1 5w40 in everything except the Jetta which gets
CarQuest 5w40 (since it meets the VW spec and M1doesn't) and the pickup which
gets M1 5w20.

I think you're on the mark with pulleys not being aligned. That any maybe the
tension isn't set right and maybe the deck is set too low. It ought to take a
helluva hit to stop the blades and burn the belt.
