I got the bad alternator changed out on the SDL.   The Glow Plugs work, and the car starts fine. The charging light goes off when the alt starts charging, but the GP light stays on.  I know no light means #1 is bad, and blinking means #2-6 is bad, but wants a glow light staying on mean?

I eventually ran a new wire from the fuse box to the headlight, bypassing the lamp out relay. The "relay" itself can fail due to cracked solder, and since it was a low beam I just put up with the lamp on the dash when the low beams were on. ___
