Beats me. Here you’re typically putting the sprinklers in before the sod, and it doesn’t have to be more than a few inches deep since we don’t have to worry about freezing. Not sure if that’s why they use PVC or not. Never seen the black poly used here, although I am familiar with it. -D > On
