Kaleb, Maybe I should remind you of what the list is about. It is about
sharing ideas and helping to troubleshoot 14 year old cars... whether I paid
for the listing or not. If I paid for the listing up to this posting being
Now very helpful but for yours I'd be disappointed with the response.
Knowledge is power - This list has gotten alot of readers who think that
they are too important to share their knowledge-REMEMBER THE REASON THIS
LIST STARTED years ago. It was to help all of us when we encountered a
problem that we had to troubleshoot whether we were an independent shop

Kaleb, Your reply in the list was uncalled for: *Even in the opinion of
other listers*. I was a member of this list years ago and I remember the
purpose of the listing. It was an honor to be accepted to it and all were
welcome
Maybe in my responses I have gotten the listers names wrong and I aplogize
for that. My responses have been directed to the one lister who has taken

the air intake that if you turn it backwards it will lean the mixture.

check a catalytic converter to see if it is working or not? I am about to
check for vacume leaks and change the 02 sensor. While I am at it is there
any preliminary checks I can do?

I have a 1993 300E 2.8 with about 122,000 miles on it. It recently went for
NJ emissions testing and failed. My HC tested at 150 instead of 100. I am
told that the cause of this is not the normal tune up but rather that
something is defective. the car had a tune up in the last 12,000 miles and
