Well, got the tranny out of the 190D finally, but in the process one of
the tabs on the TC broke. Or shall I say, a small piece of it.
Thinking it might still work, or even try JB weld on it, but I REALLY
dont want to have to do this job twice, so I would rather put one on
that is not broken.

Don't bother. JB Weld is fine stuff, but it's just glue.
The engine's torque is not going to be held by glue.

OK, here is a pic of the piece that broke off. Im trying to picture
which way the engine turns in relation to the converter. In other
words, does it turn so the tab on the tranny is pushing against the non
broken part of the converter? What do you all think, this thing still
useable? AFter
OK, Im trying to picture this in my mind, so the engine turns CW from
the front, which would mean CCW from the back, right? So the back side
of the converter would also be turning CCW, so the one tab would be
engaged, the other tab on the broken side would in fact not be pushing
on the non-bro

Looks like a big piece out of the drive side. Even if it were the overrun side,
I don't think I'd mess with a chunk that big taken out of it
There was an extra torque converter in the trunk of either the SDL or
the SLC -- it was on the back of a 117 when I got it ---

Hi, Kaleb.
The trans from my old 190E '85 that you used the rear extension from
also has/had a TC. Yours for shipping, if you want it. It is heavy
and a long way from you.

You broke off the wrong corner.
It looks like it could be welded, if you could then machine
off the bead so that it fit into place. It goes through an

I'm convinced it _could_ be repaired, and that the very best
path is to just get a different one. If you were in Cuba,
well that might be different!

Take it to a machine shop and have them weld an addition onto the tab
then grind it down to shape?

ed on. You should see the neat computer controlled lathes
they have to spit those things out at the rebuilders.
Inside there is usually a bit of room.
