Ah! the wonders of the interwebs. That was not available back in the

that SWMBO would not pitch it, so as I slowly get to boxes of "garage
stuff" I will come across it.

If you still have the can of left over "Veetnam grease" look it over.
Somewhere on that can will be a "Mil-spec" number... with that number, it's
likely possible to call up that very Mil-spec with all it's details, since
the Mfg would have been required to make it to "Mil-spec"

I really like my RedWings. That's been my work boot for more than
20 years.
Keep 'em oiled (I use a beeswax and oil mix) and they will last a
long time.

I have a pair of "Made in USA" Redwing boots, I think they're "Iron Ranger"
models:

I've had them long enough I don't remember when I got them, more than 5 years
but less than 10 I think.

I buy these steel toe things from Walmart, they are like $50 or so.
They last a year or two. The key to making them (or any shoes like
that) comfortable is to get some of the gel sole inserts (really thick
ones) and some foam pads on top of those. And 2 pair of good thick
cotton socks.
