GM dropped the price of the Bolt this year. I'd consider it a real contender.

That’s pretty cool, although it’s still a motorcycle. It will be interesting to
see how it fares in crash tests. I could see it for driving around town,
though. Not sure I would want to get out on the interstate in it.

and the longest possible trip from one side of town to another being maybe 15
miles, if that. Now if you want to go anywhere else an ICE vehicle would be
required, as there’s nothing in the way of civilization in a
LA is an excellent example of where EVs make sense. Most people never go
outside of a 5 mile circle anyway so limited range makes no difference.
Unfortunately California had a rectal/cranial inversion when it comes to
electricity production so EVs are going to exacerbate an existing problem.
You just use a 3/4 ton truck and call it a 1/2 ton.
I have doubts about them off-road, that weight has to make them less capable.
In the end most pickup trucks are just pavement queens rarely used to haul
anything more exciting than the garbage. For the majority of owners an EV will
be fine.
What times are "off peak" and how does this correspond to the output from the
solar power generation that California is pushing so hard?
