Does your compressor have a speed sensor on it? I don't think a 617
engine does, but you should check.
Having the AC compressor drop off line after a few minutes in later
cars with a serpentine belt is a signal that the belt is bad and
slipping, when the compressor slows down the KLIMA cut
Guys,
This is getting annoying/frustrating; after disassembling every electrical
plug/connection and ground I could find under the hood of my '85 300TD and
cleaning and lubricating with conductive grease, my tach now seems to be
working OK but my AC compressor won't come on. As per a suggestio
After not having any noticeable effect on the tach & AC stopping in my '85
300TD when I cleaned and lubricated the contact pins of the AC Overload Relay
(up under dash to the far right side) with conductive grease, and resoldering
the internal PCB of the AC Overload Relay, changing out the ACC
Klima relay

Prior to my '85 300TD engine going south, I noticed that my tachometer (goes to
0 rpm) and AC compressor would shut off after some random period of time. When
starting the car from cold, both the tach and AC work OK. I recently had a
rebuilt motor installed and this tach & AC problem hasn't c
