I hear a rooster or two crowing every morning from somewhere on the
other side of the woods, not sure who it belongs to. I usually dump the
grains in the compost bin, el merde de cerveza. My farmer buddy collects
the spent grains from a bunch of the breweries in town and feeds his
cows and pig
I you have a neighbor with garden hens, you could share grains and get some of
his excess eggs.

Sounds idyllic. The pawpaw trees in DC are way too neurotic to set fruit.
You have to hang meat to capture the Flies to pollinate them. And if the
fruits do form, the Chipmunks groundhogs and squirrels will eat them all.

Andrew,
We had pawpaw trees in Southern WV. I ate pawpaws when I was young. I don't
remember the early bloom as Feb would be too cold, maybe mid March. I remember
some of the trees being 10-12 feet in height and they did tend to grow in the
shade of large oaks or maples. Great fruit to eat and
The also supposedly flower in February (M + F) and need flies to
pollinate. Some suggest hanging rotten meat on the branches to attract
them. I'd rather not do this.

There's a couple of small pawpaw patches in the woods at my family's farm.
A friend transplanted several from th

Trim Healthy Mama (THM) has popularized the technique. But it is
a huge, convoluted, and not logically progressive book. M
I keep thinking I need to use that spent grain when I make beer to make
some bread. My buddy makes dog treats with them, the dogs go insane
over "special treats!"

When I was on the Atkins Diet I lost 50 #'s over 6 months. The Carb
target was 20 which I never hit but I got as close to it as possible.
20 carbs/day is a really low number but it worked.
The info about keeping the carbs and fats 4 hours apart is a very
helpful comment. Like Max I'd like

apart and the quantity doesn't m
