to order what you need in terms of racks if you do some homework. The one
we got in 2010 is still in service but the door itself is flimsy
torsionally and the metal at the hinges was giving up, literally cracking.

Quieter than the 1994 Maytag it replaced, but not terribly quiet. Plastic tub.

filters to clean. I think the pump is a macerator (so?) type that grinds it up
a bit as it pumps it out to the sink-mounted disposal.

Ditch it like we did and buy a Bosch. You’ll never regret it. It’s so quiet
the cat’s purring downs out the sound it makes. It cleans stuff that we used
to hand wash because we knew it wouldn’t come clean in the Maytag.

You don't need a new one, you need to fix your old one. The things that
spin around and shoot water at the top and bottom need to be cleaned out, or
replaced (they're very cheap). You can clear or replace the filter at the
bottom two. It will work like new. I just did it to mine.

Grab some tools and start taking it apart. Follow the path of the
water - start at the inside bottom. Worst case you will break
something and have to go buy a new one. These things are way simpler
than the cars we work on.

The Bosch gets hot from the water, and you leave the door closed for
some length of time and it dries the dishes. i don't think it has a
separate heat blower to dry them. The instructions say to leave it
closed for some length of time.

The recent brood of dishwashers is garbage. They have to meet new
energy and enviro rules, which has made them less able to actually
wash a dish. Best DW I have had is a 1976 KitchenA
