I have not looked at 2.4 very extensively for OS X. Has the
support for the shell gone into it yet or is it still only for
Darwin systems?

Anyone have some talent with mc as a server? I want to be able

it's fairly convoluted and woud like to explore mc and attempt

Does anyone have a working solution for reading and writing to a
MySQL database using mc running on a LINUX box? Not a Mac or PC
box - these are not even being considered for the task at hand.
Thanks in advance.

I think all they need is the mc.exe file. They don't need to
have the home stack and help files. I'm sure I tried this way
back when, I used to hand out a stack with the SGI mc file and
things ran wonderfully.

Anyone know where support for the shell function (ie put
shell() ) is going? Will we get it? I'm dying to write some
helpful mysql database editors for my own use etc.

Actually I already did this. If we are talking about the same
thing then I have a stack that does this. I can send it to
you. It simply returns the rgb value of the pixel beneath the
cursor, I can dig it up and send it off to those interested. I
would place it up on mctools but we are havin

As Scott mentioned, mirrors are good but not if people update
them willy nilly. The best method would be to write up a script
that would maintain the files automatically for you. You can

Actually, Scott is dying for mirrors. If anyone here

Sorry, I had a serious brain fart this afternoon. My post should not have mentioned mchttpd at all, just mc - I got seriously confused there.
As for installing mc on your server, I'll let Scott answer any security questions which may arise. MC appears to be relatively safe, however, I never aske
Just a little warning to all the newbies and some experienced users out there. mchttpd is great but it does not *yet* have a wrapper for it. What does that mean? Well, what it means is that if a real malicious MetaCard user wanted to they could write a script to use mchttpd to help them spew out

Yep. Already working on it. We did tests like this back in
October of last year, it ran well enough until we got side
tracked. Our current focus is mctools.org which is nearing
completion and will be going into beta testing with the

Well, one way to do this is to place the stack on a server and

Provide the user with a *reader* stack (see my previous post for
insight) which calls the main stack but only *caches* it
locally (so even if a third party did manage to *view*
