Hello, I have quite the same problem on an OpenBSD (4.1) router connected to a pair of firewalls using MAC multicast address (but unicast IP addresses) for redundancy. As soon as I used a second OpenBSD router and CARP for openbsd redundancy, Ethernet traffic growed and I had perfomance problems.
