I have successfully compiled the openssl already, but i am confuse on what
parameters i should place in the compilation of modssl. I'm using RedHat Linux 6.2,
Apache 1.3.12 (RPM version), JServ 1.1.2 (RPM version), openssl 0.9.5a.
i don't know what to place in the
when i install linux red hat 7 it's already
installed apache, modssl and openssl, i would like to know if this installation
is correct or do i have to install this components by myself in order to
establish my own CA and make my system work as a PKI, thanks.

If you want to use rpm version of apache, you must install also APACHE-DELEVEL
for apxs and download the source from www.apache.org or extractin from
APACHE-1.3.12.src.rpm.
It's an hard work, because you have to compile mod_ssl and apache, and then
replace the binary installed by the RPM.

I have installed openssl-0.9.4 without any errors on WindowNT system.
During my installation process of mod_ssl-2.4.9-1.3.9 it asked to copy
"ssleay.exe" from open32dll directory of openssl-0.9.4. But I could not
find that file in open32dll directory, infact nowhere in my system.

That's the way I would do it, compile it. But I thought I heard someone posting a
message on how to make the rpm's work. Compiling it yourself is pretty easy and you
might learn some things along the way. But some people like to only install rpms, I am
not one of those people.

i tried the rpm version but am having conflict with a file between the rpms..
so i switch back to manual installation (compile)
but i'm getting this error : during compilation of apache 1.3.12
#./configure --prefix=/usr/local/IMVI/a

I'm getting an error while the "doing sanity check on compiler and options"
is occuring during the configure.
The error basically says that the test compilation with the Makefile
configuration failed and that most because my compiler
is not ansi. Has anyone else seen this? It mentions gcc c

I installed Apache1.3.22 with mod_ssl 2.8.5 in Sol8. But strangely, i'm
not able to start the webserver. In the log its says "[alert] (22)Invalid
argument: setgid: unable to set group id to Group 4294967295 "
Can anyone help me.
Pl.its immediate requirement.

a few bad habits, and it is really picky about ANSI-C. Wait until you
get the first bug reports from folks turning on type safe linkage for C

mmm... there are no real reasons. I just never did this because this way I
had to always sync the two config files and because Win32 isn't an officially
supported platform (and also has no automatic installation process for the SSL
part) I always convinced myself ;) that I can avoid this syncing
