I think the money/value aspect has killed it for a lot of people -
most collectors I know

value of what
they are collecting (if it does go up in value, its a plus, of
course) - personally I couldn't
be happier that my
Ending Weds on MoviePosterBid.com is the second part of the massive
lobby card blowout auction
241 Lots of 1 to 10 cards per lot and as of this email more than 150
of them are still at just 99 cents
8 card sets at 99 cents come out to less than 12.5 cents per card!!!
I can't believe that
With just 13 hours to go, we still have 506 non-U.S. posters at just $6
each or under, as well as 402 non-U.S. posters at $3 each or under, and that
includes a surprising number of really nice ones! For those *REALLY* looking
for deals, there are still 283 non-U.S. posters at just $1 each!
Of
everyone old KID like us, wish we had collected more...
but the posters aren't the same
the lionel trains or slot cars aren't the same
the toys are now plastic
isnt it depressing what we threw out
but, do you really wish you said your 8 track recordings?
i never understood
Kids don't collect anymore because we raise them believing that if
something is three years old, it's obsolete. Comic books, lobby cards,
posters, army men it's all junk to kids. There's also a lack of
interest in playing detective and finding that last piece that rounds

Succinct, and I think quite a realistic look at the way it works now.
Excellent post, Franc.
Sure, the economic meltdown is playing a part, but kids now collect quite
differently
for the most part.
They collect data in one form or another.
And data is perfect.
Everything has to be perfect.
I posted this originally on NSF but I'll re-post it here:
I hate to disagree with Gary Sohmers, who's quoted in the article and who I
watch and enjoy on the Roadshow, but there is a fourth reason people
collect: Because it's fun.
When my daughter was a kid (she's 23 now), she used to come
The seller has this KILL BILL Subway Poster in an obviously wrong category
(repro/1980s), but apparently told one of our customers that it was found
as is, encouraging hope that it's some kind of original. Anyone have a good
idea WHAT it really is? I have some foggy recollection that Moviegoods

first of all, subway posters are horizontal (unless it's been
changed. I haven't been to NYC in 16 years)
second, his description says:
It's out of print original stock but new never hung and comes in its
original plastic sleeve. It will look sweet hanging on any wall

We had something like this in the UK a bus shelter poster, but I have to
admit I do not recall that image.

yes I forgot to mention bus shelter posters are that size, but I had
never seen a Kill Bill
but still.. all bus shelter posters I have gotten that were unused
were also wrapped in brown paper
the key there is what material it is printed on. Bus shelters are

I thought I would have a go at compiling a list of the highest prices paid for
Australian posters. I have started with a list of published prices mostly from
major auctions. If you know of any published records (and even some private
records) that should be added please let me know.

Heritage Auction's latest Internet Movie Poster Auction featuring 459 lots

Hey Rich,
I just took some pics of a couple FINDING NEMO Bus Shelters I'm
selling and these are 48 x 68
so if it is 40x60 that sounds more like the old 'Drive In' size. If
you haven't seen them, here's a link
to all my posters for sale including the FINDING NEMO Bus Shelters:
As I now look at the seller's other items, I'm thinking this one came from a
package of (would-be?) commercial large format posters. It's not clear how
they got they idea that they were subway posters. This KILL BILL is the
only one I've noticed that even resembles a real movie poster.
Hello all, I am looking for a rolled copy of and original Amadeus (not the
Academy Award one, but the first original) and Singles one sheet. Please let
me know if you have either or both available with condition and cost. He is

I agree. It looks like the inventory that used to be available from the many
commercial posters stores that thrived in the 80s and 90s.
KILL BILL seems to be the odd one out because of the date.
Isn't the rating of a film supposed to be on all US distributor-produced

Hey, CK, just so you know, I have several bus shelter posters for

just realized
is because they are British Bus Shelters (note they say In Cinemas
November 18). While my U.S.

Patrick, Point of information: Most if not all of the US bus shelter

huge challenge to ship them if you have the right tubes, but shipping a
40x60 poster at 13 oz (the domestic First Class limitation) would be

EBAY retired the old My Ebay Page as of today (1/20/089). Here is the
