I think the problem with many children is that they don't stop to think if it
made sense or not, they just keep reading, right, wrong or nonsensically.

Thanks for your heart-felt message. I, too, took a leap of faith this year

Hi,
I have been reading all the posts and basically agreeing with what
everyone has been saying - even when the posts were contradictory! I
think that different readers require different types of instruction,
and that our challenge is to understand the needs of our learners and
teach
I understand what many of you are saying. I have been at a campus who worked
very hard toward balanced literacy. You could walk the halls and see Reading
and Writing workshop going on every day. There was so much collaboration and
professional growth. Our principal was so supportive. Then the
