Jim Grant used to have a tape of a speech on this topic. It was called
The Gift of Time. He made the case that moany students benefited from
delaying entrance to Kindergarten to let their bodies fine and gross motor
skills catch up with their intellectual abilities, especially with boys.

Makes me so sad that now children have to fit into our schools as they are
currently structured instead of restructuring schools to fit children's
needs. I still remember learning from the Brits and the Australians about
classrooms where children just entered classrooms on their birthdays
