Greetings everyone,
After being home with a sick child on this glorious day, I decided to brave the
dirt road of Carlos Avery this evening in my Minivan. I made it. The trip was
great and I got some great photographs! Here is a list of what I saw today.
Canadian Geese - many
Sandhill Cranes
Hello!
We went for a drive along the Wildlife Drive in Sherburne National Wildlife
Refuge on Friday. Here is what we saw:
Two Eagle Nests - The Stickney Pool Nest and another across either Bergerson
Pool or the School House Pool
Trumpeter Swans
Canadian Geese
Tree Swallows
Indigo Bunting
uite young yet.
Also a note of interest, I've noticed the King Fishers are extremely busy and
abundant the last few weeks while kayaking on the Rum River in the Cambridge
area and on Lake Fannie in Cambridge. I will be kayaking again this weekend and
will see if they are still in the area.
There has been a small flock of bluebirds in my backyard all week,
yellow-rumped warblers, and the usual chickadees, goldfinches, juncos,
red-bellied woodpecker, bluejays but I am really enjoying watching the
bluebirds. :)

ou post locations but use
abbreviation or acronyms and I have no idea what you are referring to. So for
us 'newbies' if you could not abbreviate or use acronyms that would be very
much appreciated.
Have a great day!

however, that owl
was along a county road, or a refuge, or state park, I would be happy to post
that information!

I would also appreciate it if you would quit replying to just me. I don't care
to be yelled at via email by someone I've never met. Please don't reply
directly to me again.

I took the family hiking along the Fish Lake trail at the UofM Cedar Creek
Ecosystem Science Reserve in East Bethel.
On the Southwest end of the Fish Lake Hiking trail we observed a lone Snow
Bunting foraging on the trail - my first close up encounter.

it says there are Great Gray's over at Stone Lake Road, let's try it" and bingo
he was right. Also a lifer bird for me. We only had three hours to drive the
bog before heading to Duluth for a funeral on Saturday. Those three hours were
a complete success. Thanks a
I had two Great Horned Owls talking to each other last night in my backyard. I
went out on my deck and just listened to them call back and forth. Love that
music. I usually hear them every Spring but this is earlier than most years.

I went out to Carlos Avery around 6pm on Saturday evening and all the roads
were gated/locked shut. Anyone know why?
Thanks!

Hi everyone,
I was going to go out to Carlos Avery to see what water fowl was migrating
through but they have their roads closed down. Can anyone suggest some good
spots in the North Metro and particularly in Anoka County?
Thank you,

ancient Golden Bird book? The picture on eNature was exactly what I saw as
well. Just curious to your thoughts. As a new birder it is confusing to find a
bird on a website and not in any of my bird books. Thanks for your input.

Thank you to everyone that responded to my inquiry. This will teach me to not
research a bird when I am walking out the door!
The bird in my yard was the Eastern Wood-PEWEE. :) I think I had gone up and
down the list of flycatchers so many times the names blurred.
Thanks again!
