Sid,
For a channel to end 'indoubt' it must have had some form of failure either
at the local or remote end. You should examine the queue manager logs at
boths ends for messages about this channel.

More information - the source of the '254' connections is the MQ queue
manager MAXHANDS attribute. When we raised it, we immediately were able
to run more transactions before encountering exceptions. The new number
we could run exactly matched the new MAXHANDS value, minus 2.

I just started getting this when I applied CSD05 to one Win2K server. The app runs on
the server. But when I applied CSD05 to a workstation, it had no trouble with the
MQDISC.
On the server, we are getting a DrWatson in the MQDISC.

Dennis,
Even if it runs on the server, if it uses the MQ client it's a client
application (vs. one that connects directly to the queue manager).

bILL,
Just to clarify what I said before, I installed MQ V5.3 and CSD5 to a Win2K
server as well, not a workstation. The VB apps do not use the MQ client to
connect to the queue manager and so far (fingers crossed) no complaints.

Hi,
If I intend on having multiple WBIMB (MQSI)
brokers, can I use a single database as the Broker database and have the
brokers share the database or do I need to have a separate broker database
for each broker? If I can share the database across brokers is there
any impact on performance?

Hi Paul,
I'm pretty sure the viaQM-monitored QM already has all the right

My challenge now is how to set the definition to keep it green, not just
for a few seconds. I

Hi,
First of all, many thanks to all who responded. It is always good to know
that you are not alone!
As regards our problem, we now know for certain that the messages were

And I finally got it on-line. :-)

I just discovered that when my developer built his VB app, he built an installer.
Which copies several MQ dlls (and several other system dlls) into his application
directory.
Which means he was executing with CSD00 levels of mqm.dll mqic32.dll, and CSD05
levels of everthing else. Recipe for

curious about this also. We have moved our broker databases to be remote

Oh yea! When we upgraded from V5.0 to V5.2 2 years ago I ran into many such
situations. Basically what I did was to state flatly that applications must
run using the MQ components that I install and maintain. Anything else will
be considered unsupported. It seemed to do the trick because I had no
Kulbir,
unless your broker domain streches across geographical scale, there isn't
much point not to let the brokers share the same broker database; although
it doesn't make much sense either to have multiple brokers in the first
place if they are all located in the same data center.
cheers,
Greg,
it's not about table names. They are all the same no matter how many
brokers you create. Only the entries in the tables are related to
individual brokers. You certainly don't want to put your database as
remote as Alaska if your brokers are in Orlando. I hope it make sense.

Hi Kraig,
My DB2 is a bit rusty. But I think you can increase
the space by ALTER TABLESPACE. You can look up the
syntex in the manual.

Hi Sid,
my recollection is that a SVRCONN with no MCAUSER will believe the incoming
userid asserted by the client program.
The Win2k client asserts the logged on windows user (could be a domain
user) and can include the SID.
The Win95 client asserts the content of an environment variable.
