I have recently set up MythTV on Ubuntu Breezy preview release. I am
using an Avermedia USB DVB-T card. I have compiled the drivers and the
card works fine with Xine.
MythTV detects the card correctly and scans the channels OK. However,
when I try to view live TV it seems it can't see the card.

Funny this should come up because I have something similar and my
wife blew a fuse about it the other day because she lost a program
she was trying to watch.
It is 100% of the time during live tv, and never during a recording.
When seeking in any manner (ffwd, skip ahead, behind, rwnd),
I managed to figure it out. Supposedly my machine thought the /var partition
was full even though it had 32% free according to df. I rebooted and
everything seems to be working fine now.

Puzzled, WAP is a communications transport mechanism as opposed to TCP IP!
There are two mobile themes it seems, WML and HTML. I can reliably
inform you that both work on my phone at least, and they both work
over GPRS rather than WAP. The WML theme also works happily over WAP.

remote.
This script works fine, however when ivtv-dec is decoding a program
and mythfrontend gets killed, the decoder locks up. The only way that

alpha value set so that you don't see any X-windows
stuff until the alpha is restored but it shouldn't
lock up.
Restoring the alpha is trivial by adding
ivtvfbctl /dev/fb0 -alpha 255
to the end of the script.

Where are the settings for each stored? Is there anyway to copy them
from the old config?

Are you able to connect to mysql from a command
prompt? Once you verify that you can, I'm sure
I am able to connect to MySQL from a command prompt. Once in, I have
no clue what to do, but I am able to connect. However, I think I
have locked MythTV out, when I changed the backend server IP back to
the old IP address. Now neither mythfrontend or mythtv-setup will
start up.

Hi everyone -
I just got my first myth box setup (finally) using a year old dell
dimension box and a pvr-150 ... thanks to Jared everything was pretty
much a snap. A few things crept up here and there but nothing I
couldn't figure out.
One thing I've noticed since recording my shows, though,
The settings are stored in mythconverg. You can edit them manually but I imagine it isn't really recommended.

If you are going to try editing the db I would use a program like phpmyadmin. It makes that job alot easier

Another option is to run LVM+[XJ]FS on, say, RAID5. Then
if a disk is failing, you can simply pull it and run in degraded
mode until the replacement arrives. Of course that doesn't help
you *now*...

Everything I do to upgrade my MythTV machine always comes back to bite
me in the butt. I upgraded my motherboard to one with on board
S/PDIF out and a gigabite ethernet nic. In the process I managed
to hose my linux install and had to reinstall everything.
