Just looking at the lilo docs (which still haven't answered my
question, unfortunately), and I found another answer to Will Pliler's
question about removing lilo: Just type lilo -u at the command prompt.

Meddle not in the affairs of dragons, for
I just used Partition Magic to enlarge my Linux partition on my laptop.. I have it
shared with a 'Doze 98 partition.. I keep the 'Doze for the programs that I can't find
equivalents of (yet!).. And of course the occasional games :)
Anyway, I was able to shrink Doze 98 by another 400 MB
I have linux on one hard drive(the master drive) and win95(the slave)
on another.
I set up lilo to let me choose between the two systems, but when I
select win95, win95 claims there is a non-system disk in the floppy
drive and then it hangs up. There isn't any non-system disk there, so
what to
Greetings. Right now, I can do an
ls | lpr
and get a decent output.
But when I print from Netscape (the printer is a Non-Postscript HP LJ IIIsi),
I get lots of control characters that suspiciously look like Postscript.
Any ideas? Thanks, -turgut

1. Reinstall linux, putting the boot stuff on the win95
hard drive. Change this drive to the master.
2. All the rest of linux goes on its own hard drive which becomes the
slave.
So, tell me somebody, will this work? I will do it when I get a copy of
Linux Mandrake 6.0.
adios, STeve W
I am very impressed with gnome and RedHAt 6.0. After a day of configuring and
fustration I finally got it...
It works real well and as I said , it is impressive. I bet that Mandrake 6 will
configure those things for you

Hi there.. does the Mandrake kernel come with APM support installed?
If not, is there an easy way to recompile it WITH the support?
thanks, -turgut
I believe it is. You will also want to turn on apmd during
installation. That will provide battery monitoring.

I know it was posted before, but can someone point me to a URL where I
can fing a copy of the mariner.iso image?

Thanks for the sugestion about the SANE website. I downloaded SANE however,
after configuring it ( I guess I did not do it right) it does not work. Does
any body know the steps to follow? I tried both ways: SANE 1.01 rpm and the tar
version. My scanner is a Mustek 600 CP (parallel).
I have one of those also, and according to the supported hardware lists. It
is not on any of them. It looks like about the only scanners supported so
far are scsi.

I thought so too, although somewhere I read that parallel were supported.
Probably my mistake.
I might also add that through my own experience the auto configuration of a
serial port using the rc.serial file can at least for me give the wrong
settings to the system...I for whatever reason had changed my com2 settings
in the BIOS to non-standard settings and sure enough I couldn't seem to
Curious...I wonder if DiskDruid has a bug or was it maybe a shortcoming of
your PCs BIOS? I've partioned a 10 Gb HD Western Digital without a
problem...maybe thats the breaking point for DiskDruid...has anyone else
noticed this...if so maybe a quick note to the Mandrake developement team is

I checked on the SANE site for my scanner. Of course, it is not listed. I
have a Mustek 1200II EP. It is on its own parallel port and not through the
printer. I read all the Mustek scanners on the list. They were mostly all
SCSI. I read that the 600 something was partially supported IF it
I also have parallel port scanner and it is also the only reason I have
to muck about with windows

To be honest, I "upgraded" Mandrake 5.3 with RedHat 6.0. I did my zip config
while in Mandrake, I did not config the printer, modem etc until I was
