My suggestion:
Open Xmms and go to: Options Preference Audio Cdreader
Configure Output and mark Read Digital CD Audio.

I,ve gone thur the same thing and I do have the
xmms-cdreader in fact sounds and cd,s work

For listen to CD at Xmms you have to install the plug-in Xmmx
Cdread. You can find it at Mdk 8,2 third CD or at
http://rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/search.php?query=xmms-cdread+submit=Search+...system=arch=
I read it somewhere and it worked for
me.

I was misunderstanding it. With your suggestion I can see the tracks. I
wanted to check if the drive was reading correctly the audio-cd since a
have no sound.
