If you go to the updates page of the Mandrake site it has a blurb on this bug. Everyone should be updating their kernel to 2.2.9-27 anyway because of a security bug... but this as well as the initscripts is what is needed to fix the unmount bug.. I have that bug as well.. I have updated

Don't know if the kernel upgrade specifically address anything to do with the unmounting bug (i have my doubts as all i updated were the init scripts and then the problem went away), but it's certainly not true to say everyone should upgrade the kernel because of the security bug. I don't have

I have a question. If I get a book with a CD rom in.. say 1.3 of Open linux or 5.0 or 5.1 of Redhat. Is it not worth my while to get that up and running at all?? If all I am using the machine for it personal use .. internet etc.. with these distros work fine for what a personal user needs??

ok, so I want to install Mandrake on this computer. As it stands now I am having a very hard time getting support from NEC because the machine is so old. They did come out with a bios that would autoconfig a drive and also could do LBA mode. But I have had no luck flashing this machine with it.

Ok, installed Mandrake 6.0 I would like to have several resolutions available to me in X. So when I do my video and Monitor setup I decide not to accept the default resolution found and I pick three from the 24bit list. 800 x 600 1024 x 768 and 1248 x 1024 (is that last one right?) anyway...
