Is your Win9x box directly connected to the Internet? If
so, I believe you must just set up your SMTP server to
point to your ACTUAL email server rather than the
Linux box. OR use one of the many other SMTP
servers available out on the Internet that don't require
user authentication.
Remember,

Contact your ISP and get their DNS addresses. Win9x
will let you get away with no DNS entries, but Linux will
not. Also, under kppp make sure you choose the correct
port for you modem. My external modem worked fine once
I changed the port from /dev/modem to /dev/cua0 (linux

Dude ... that would leave a big hole in your security.
Linux has deliberately blocked root from logging in
remotely. If you really want to do it, then I think you
can create a "super user" with access to everything

Question: What do you mean "drive D reserved for Linux"?
Ideally the partition you are gonna install into should not be
defined at all (Linux will do the partitioning for you).
do you already have NT on drive e:?
If it is necessary to keep the drive letter for the NT, then
I believe you will
I read an article last wk on ZDNET about mandrake7, which said
that the "update" option works fine .. I did a full install myself because
I didn't have any "stuff" I was interested in keeping.
Incidently, you may be interested to know that the new KDE that is

Has anyone come up with a fix for the message problem in Licq 0.70
(included in Air)?
Go to http://rufus.w3.org
They have one of the largest library of RPM files I have ever seen.
Download and install one of the KICQ's (kde icq) ... I haven't
had problem 1
My solution for this was to move my WIN drive to the second
IDE port and installing the empty HD at primary on the first
IDE port. I FDISKed the new drive (just to make sure nothing
survived) and then did an auto install to that drive. LILO will
now boot linux automatically if I do nothing

To boot from CD, you have to go into cmos and change the
boot order. If your cmos does not support it, boot to DOS
with cd suppport, switch to the cdrom (the man7 one), change
to the DOS folder, and run MAKEDISK. It will make a disk
(floppy) that you can use to boot to the cdrom for
IfI recall, you run MAKEDISK and tell it you want the
boot.img file, not the cdrom.img ..
I loaned my linux book out, but you will find it
