Well to be completely honest the best two file managers out there are Konqueror and GMC. There are others, but they are somewhat lower in quality as far as mime types and whatnot go. DFM is pretty good, however. Keep in mind, you can use Konqueror, and not be in KDE. As far as mail clients go
