I upgraded from 9.2 to 9.3 last night using rpmdrake, now
when running firestarter I get this:
A proper configuration for firestarter was not found. If you are
running firestarter from the directory you built it in run 'make
install-data-local' to install a configuration or simply 'make
install'

I'm sure I've asked this before and don't believe I got an answer. Heres my
situation. I'm running firestarter, V0.9.0. When going to grc.com to scan
my ports it shows 21,23, and 80 open. Now I've gone to mcc > sytem >

Hi,
A google search on 'windweb' indicates that it is a web server for embedded
systems with limited memory.

Note that the ftp server is VxWorkssame as the web server
Hi Anne,
I think it's just another option for remote configuration. Some servers can
be accessed and somewhat configured via ftp as well.

Hi,
Using a trick that I learned on this list, (ip in mail headers) I tried to
connect to your web server. I am presented with a username / password prompt.
Also, your ftp server is accepting connections but it will not accept
anonymous connections.
Just an update.

Anne,
Do you know if you have a Lucent PSAX (PacketStar Access gateway) anywhere in
your connectivity route? Possibly serving as your router?

Hi,
I've noticed increasing hits coming from some site in Taiwan. Since
firestarter is listing them (upper ports...around 32000 and up) I presume
they are not getting in.
How do members of this list handle repetitive port scans from a single site?
Just wondering if there's any po

piece of software but I have a few questions:
I picked the option thats supposed to start Firestarter when you dialup. (but
it doesn't). So...in /etc/ppp/ip-up.local, I put the line "firestarter &".
Still doesn't start.
Hello all and thanks for this great list :-)
I was wondering as a relitive newbie how i would set up an efective firewall,
since i did not know anything about ipchains i was lost. But i found a
program called firestarter and it seems simple enough to use.
Does anyone have any experiance with
