I'm about to buy a laptop. How's the geforce 2 mobile ( 16 meg) card run
under linux, I assume it uses the nvidia closed source drivers.

I have a GeForce2 GTS on 7.2 that works fine unless I want to play any
games! I've yet to experience any success in getting the 3D drivers
installed. (agpgart fails, etc). When I tried to install 7.1, no joy. It

I have a GeForce2 and Mandrake Linux 7.2 and it works well, so maybe
that's your answer.
(Well, actually it freezes every time I try to use it but I'm pretty
sure that's a soundcard problem. :)

What version of Xfree86 are you running? I had the same problem (although
I'm not sure why) with 4.0.1 and 3.3.6 ( I think )
4.0 seems to be the only one that worked wel for me (even during the
initial set up) I did manage to get the NVidia drivers installed when I
was running
in their pissing
contest. I joined after all that stuff was going on aparently.
